It is so important to ask the right questions.

I've lately been irritated that the people around me never want to expose themselves to different ideas. I was irritated that everybody just wants to reaffirm the things that they've always heard. But then I realized that I'm looking at the situation at too close a scale: I, wanting to be around those who wish to consider new ideas, am in a sense trying to be around people who are just like me as well. I want to hear new things, and I want to be around people who want to hear new things. My friends want to hear the same thing, and they want to be around people who want to hear the same things. So in essence, I'm just as "bad" as they are, in that I only want to be around people who are like me.

Interesting...
